A history of Australian cinema from the viewpoint of world renowned film critic and the long term former director of Sydney international film festival, David Stratton. The seventy seven year old who is well regarded by film stars is originally from Britain. In the sixties he emigrated to Australia where Australian cinema heavily impacted his life, helping him to know himself as well as his new homeland. Numerous Australian and New Zealand film stars, including Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, Al Clark, Jane Campion, George Miller, Sam Neill, Eric Bana and Bryan Brown, describe David Stratton’s role in Australian cinema throughout the documentary. At last year’s International film festival in Cannes, the film was one of the films chosen to honour it’s 70th anniversary.
